Obtaining petitions

Your local coordinator will contact you after you mail in the Petition or Circulator Form or sign up at the official website Californians for Democracy. The local coordinator will let you know how to obtain petitions and instructions. They'll stay in touch with you contantly to provide you with materials and ask for your help in gathering signatures.

There are strict legal requirements that must be followed. The law requires that circulators abide by these rules or the effort may be  jeopardized. The petition circulator form provides you with that legal information.

  • You should also download and read the Circulator Instructions & Script which includes essential information regarding circulating petitions.
  • You will find it helpful to download and read the Tips from the Frontline on how to get the attention of potential signers. This is the most difficult part of signature gathering. Once a potential signer is engaged, the response to the initiative has been highly positive.
  • And there is another helpful document written by Andy Young, a successful petition circulator from Alameda: Yes You Can! - YOU can do the job of gathering signatures.
